Emmerdale star responds to missed opportunity for Rhona and Cain team-up
Emmerdale star Zoe Henry has responded to a missed opportunity to work with her husband Jeff Hordley on a recent storyline. Despite being in the same on-screen family, the real-life couple who play Rhona Goskirk and Cain Dingle rarely cross paths on the soap.

However, with villains Celia Daniels and Ray Walters terrorising most of the village last year, Rhona and Cain had two enemies in common, leaving fans hopeful for a special team-up.
Speaking about the intricate storyline, which saw Rhona’s step-daughter April Windsor groomed by the evil duo, Henry shared that she was “personally thrilled” that her character didn’t join forces with Cain to take them down.
“Professionally disappointed, personally thrilled. I don’t want to work with Jeff and he doesn’t want to work with me, but I also think my husband is a brilliant actor,” she explained.
“I’m always keen to work with people that are brilliant and he is, so it’s a double edged sword, I suppose.”
April’s ordeal began when she tried to help her boyfriend Dylan Penders escape his drug dealing duties, assigned by Ray. The teenager became ‘indebted’ to the villains who later tried to force her into sex work and made her believe she had killed one of their seedy ‘clients’.
The heavy storyline recently came to a close, with both Ray and Celia being killed. However, with April, Dylan, Rhona and Marlon all in the frame for Ray’s death, will the family ever be able to put things behind them?
Addressing her involvement in the harrowing plot, the actor said it was “an honour” to be at the forefront of the story.
“I think the longer you’re in something like this, you can become more and more adept at leaving things at the door. So I’m very good at bringing what I need to bring to the floor, taking my costume off, going home, and kind of forgetting all about it,” she explained.
“You have to detach from it because it’s emotional stuff and it’s a big deal and you want to play it in all its truths and high emotions. But yeah, I’m always thrilled. I mean, I’m just thrilled to be here. I’m thrilled to have a job and so to be given and trusted with a story like this.”
She added: “It’s April’s story really, but you know, we’re supporting Amelia [Flanagan, who plays April] through it, who has, by the way, been amazing. So yes, of course, it’s just been an honour.”
