Former Emmerdale Star Rachael Gill-Davis Takes on a New ‘Experience’ Five Months After Exit
A New Chapter After Leaving the Dales
Just five months after her emotional Emmerdale exit, actress Rachael Gill-Davis has embarked on a fresh creative journey. The star, who played Gail Loman, is back doing what she loves most — but this time, she’s passing her experience on to others.
Rachael first joined Emmerdale in 2019 for a brief stint before returning full-time in 2023. Gail started out as The Woolpack’s kitchen assistant before becoming a barmaid, and her on-screen storylines explored friendship, love, and heartbreak — including a complex relationship with Ryan Stocks and their son Oscar, who was placed for adoption.

Earlier this year, viewers saw Gail decide to leave the village for a new life in Devon, ending her relationship with Ryan on amicable terms. Following her departure, Rachael thanked fans, writing:
“Well… what a mad two years this has been. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shown love and support for the character over these past two years. The fans of Emmerdale are just fab, and it’s been wonderful meeting some of you along the way.”
Returning to Teaching and Mentorship
After completing a stage run as Joan of Arc in Leeds, Rachael has returned to her role as an acting tutor at MetFilm School Leeds, where she helps students discover their own voices. Her approach to teaching is rooted in encouragement and confidence-building rather than criticism.

“The big thing is belief in themselves,” she explained. “Some drama schools can knock actors down. MetFilm encourages them. It lifts people up and helps them discover who they are. That’s why I love it.”
Describing the school as “alive with creativity,” Rachael praised the energy of its film and acting community: “You walk in and it feels electric. Students are carrying booms and cameras down the corridors. You can tell stories are being created in every room.”
Bridging Acting and Real-World Experience
As a working actor, Rachael believes her students benefit from seeing their tutor in active roles both on stage and screen. “When students see that you’ve just come from a production — whether it’s a television role or a play — they know the lessons are connected to real professional life,” she shared.

Now preparing to welcome a new intake of students, she encourages them to bring curiosity and courage into their studies: “Come with an open mind, be ready to work hard, and believe in yourself. The rest we’ll discover together.”
A Bright Future On and Off Screen
While Rachael may have left Emmerdale, her creative journey continues to thrive. Balancing acting with teaching allows her to nurture both her own artistry and the next wave of talent — proving that life after the Dales can be just as fulfilling, inspiring, and full of new “experiences.”
