Home and Away Fans Devastated as Theo Poulos Is Killed in Shock Hit-and-Run

A Sudden and Tragic Exit

Home and Away has left viewers reeling after Theo Poulos, one of Summer Bay’s most beloved characters, was killed in a brutal hit-and-run. The shocking scenes aired just after the wedding of Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright) and Eden Fowler (Stephanie Panozzo), turning celebration into heartbreak.

Theo, played by Matt Evans, died a hero’s death when he threw himself in front of a speeding car to save his girlfriend Lacey Miller (portrayed by Evans’ real-life partner Sophea Pennington).

Emotional Final Moments

In gut-wrenching closing scenes, Theo’s aunt Leah Patterson-Baker (Ada Nicodemou) was seen screaming and collapsing into the arms of husband Justin Morgan (James Stewart) as she discovered her nephew’s lifeless body. Fans described the moment as “absolutely heartbreaking” and compared the shock to the sudden deaths of past favourites, including Mason.

One fan wrote online: “Nooo not Theo!! My fave character.” Another added: “This hits hard like when Mason died. So sudden and out of the blue.”

Matt Evans Confirms His Exit

While some viewers clung to hope that Theo’s death might not be final, Matt Evans confirmed his departure on The Morning Show.

“I think it was quite a shock for a lot of people. Like people knew a character was going to die, but they didn’t know it was really Theo,” the 29-year-old said.

The actor, who joined the show in 2021 as Leah’s troubled nephew, revealed he will now be pursuing career opportunities in the US.

A Goodbye Message to Fans

Evans shared a heartfelt farewell video on Instagram, recorded on the day he filmed Theo’s death:
