Is Yellowstone Spinoff 6666 Still Happening? Everything We Know
The dust has barely settled on Yellowstone’s final ride, yet fans are already looking south to the Four Sixes Ranch. The long-rumored spinoff, 6666 (pronounced “Four Sixes”), was first announced back in 2021 but has since gone quiet. With Taylor Sheridan juggling multiple prequels and sequels, is this ambitious Texas-set drama still on the table? Here’s what we know.
The Status of 6666
As of now, Paramount has not issued an official update confirming whether 6666 is actively in development. The last major movement came in 2022, when the network announced it would shift from Paramount+ to Paramount Network. Since then, Sheridan has focused on 1883, 1923, Y: Marshals, The Madison, and the upcoming Beth-and-Rip spinoff, leaving fans to wonder if 6666 has been sidelined.
Sheridan’s close collaborator Christina Voros explained why silence doesn’t necessarily mean cancellation: “We don’t know until we get the scripts what the story is. When the time to tell the story is upon us, there will be a script in my inbox.”
What Will 6666 Be About?
According to the original logline, the series will spotlight the legendary Four Sixes Ranch in Texas:
“Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before… the 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are born and made.”
That description suggests a mix of history, grit, and the unforgiving cowboy life, continuing Sheridan’s tradition of grounding his western dramas in realism.

Who Could Star?
No cast list has been revealed, but all signs point to Jefferson White’s Jimmy Hurdstrom as the anchor. His Season 4 arc at the ranch looked very much like a backdoor pilot, and his return in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 kept the 6666 connection alive.
Other possible characters include:
-
Jen Landon’s Teeter, who took a job at the Four Sixes in the finale.
-
Kathryn Kelly’s Emily, Jimmy’s wife, likely central if Jimmy leads.
-
Taylor Sheridan’s Travis Wheatly, whose horse-trading ties run through the ranch.
With the Dutton cowboys also spending a season wintering at the Four Sixes, there’s room for more crossovers.
Will It Actually Happen?
Sheridan’s packed slate makes 6666’s timeline uncertain, but fans shouldn’t count it out. The Four Sixes Ranch is a real working ranch that Sheridan himself purchased, signaling personal investment in the story.
If the spinoff does move forward, it will likely highlight the raw, unglamorous cowboy life away from Montana’s dynastic politics — a companion series rather than a direct continuation of the Dutton saga.
For now, the wait continues. But in Sheridan’s universe, silence is often just the calm before the storm.
