Kevin Costner may have left Yellowstone behind, but he hasn’t strayed far from his love of American history. His latest project, The Gray House, a Civil War–era drama he executive produced alongside Morgan Freeman, has officially landed at Prime Video, with a premiere set for early 2026.

What The Gray House Is About

Directed by Roland Joffé, The Gray House tells the true story of a group of women who built a secret spy network within Confederate circles during the Civil War. Risking their lives, they turned an underground railroad into a covert intelligence operation that General Ulysses S. Grant would later credit as pivotal in securing the North’s victory.

The series features an impressive cast, including Mary-Louise Parker (The West Wing), Daisy Head (Harlots), and Amethyst Davis (Kindred) as the central trio of unsung heroines. The ensemble also includes Ben Vereen, Paul Anderson, Ian Duff, Hannah James, Robert Knepper, Christopher McDonald, Colin Morgan, Rob Morrow, Colin O’Donoghue, Sam Trammell, Ewan Miller, and Keith David.

Costner’s Career After Yellowstone

Costner’s abrupt exit from Yellowstone during Season 5 was marked by behind-the-scenes scheduling conflicts. Since then, he’s poured much of his energy into his ambitious Horizon: An American Saga film franchise, which he directed, co-wrote, and headlined. Unfortunately, the first chapter underperformed at the box office in 2024, putting the sequel’s release on indefinite hold.

Beyond Horizon, Costner has starred in Kevin Costner’s The West for the History Channel and has upcoming projects including Honeymoon with Harry (alongside Jake Gyllenhaal) and the thriller Headhunters, directed by Steven Holleran.
