Landman Season 2 Set to Hit Paramount+: Taylor Sheridan’s Oil Drama Returns This December

The Wild West of Oil Returns

Taylor Sheridan fans, take note—Landman is gearing up for its second season. Set in West Texas, the series follows Chris Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) as he fights to rebuild his oil empire, blending gritty drama with high-stakes business maneuvering. The show first premiered in 2024 on Paramount+ and quickly gained a following for its intense storytelling and stellar cast.

Thornton described his character’s journey in Season 1 as relentless. “I think Taylor is trying to kill me,” he told Variety, reflecting on how his character is beaten down at the start and end of the season, with only a few moments to strike back.

A Star-Studded Cast Returns

Season 2 will bring back most of the original cast, including Michelle Randolph as Ainsley Norris, Ali Larter as Angela Norris, and Demi Moore as Cami Miller. Jon Hamm, whose character died in Season 1, will not return, but the remaining actors are expected to continue navigating the high-stakes drama of West Texas oil.

Michelle Randolph praised Sheridan for giving actors opportunities to shine. “Honestly, Taylor takes chances on actors. He’s one of the few people in the industry who really does that,” she told PEOPLE. Randolph also highlighted her positive experience working with Thornton, Moore, and Hamm, describing them as “lovely” and expressing how thrilling it was to collaborate with actors she’s admired for years.

When Will Season 2 Premiere?

Multiple outlets suggest that Landman Season 2 could premiere in December 2025, although no official confirmation has come from Paramount+ or the cast. In the meantime, fans eager for more oilfield drama can revisit the 2019 podcast Boomtown, which inspired the series.

Christian Wallace, the podcast’s co-creator, shared that much of the series is grounded in reality. “A lot of it is very accurate,” he told Deadline, noting that while some scenes were adapted for storytelling purposes, the show captures the essence of working in oil and gas. Wallace also revealed that he worked closely with Sheridan in the writers’ room for two years, helping craft characters, dialogue, and storylines before filming began.

Will Landman Connect to the Yellowstone Universe?

Despite being under the Taylor Sheridan umbrella, Landman currently has no direct connection to Yellowstone or its spin-offs. However, fans are speculating about potential crossovers. For instance, Sheridan’s upcoming 6666 spin-off also takes place in Texas, and Michelle Randolph appears in both series. Could her Landman character, Ainsley Norris, be related to her 1923 character, Elizabeth Dutton? Only time will tell.

Sheridan’s universe thrives on intricate storytelling, and connections might emerge in surprising ways, keeping viewers invested across multiple series.

Why Landman Continues to Captivate

With a mix of family dynamics, high-stakes business drama, and personal struggles, Landman captures the tension and moral complexity of the oil industry in a way few shows attempt. Coupled with a talented cast and Sheridan’s distinctive storytelling, Season 2 promises to deliver more of the suspense, grit, and drama that fans have come to expect.

Whether you’re a fan of Thornton’s relentless Chris Norris, Randolph’s rising star Ainsley, or the broader Sheridan universe, the upcoming season is shaping up to be an unmissable addition to the Wild West canon.
