Netflix’s Ransom Canyon Loses Two Major Stars Ahead of Season 2

Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner Exit the Series

Netflix’s breakout Western romance Ransom Canyon will return for a second season — but without two of its central characters. A new report confirms that Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner, who played the father-son duo Davis and Reid Colin, will not be back. Their departures come without explanation, leaving fans to speculate how their exits will be handled in the upcoming episodes.

The loss is a blow to the series, as both Davis and Reid were deeply tied to the community’s storylines and tangled love triangles that defined much of season one.

A Hit With Fans

Premiering on April 17, Ransom Canyon quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched shows, holding a spot on the Global Top 10 for four weeks. Its mix of family feuds, ranching rivalries, and sweeping romance has been touted as Netflix’s answer to Yellowstone, appealing to fans hungry for dramatic Western sagas.

With its success, the renewal for season two was fast-tracked. Alongside returning stars Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, the new season will welcome Ben Robson (Animal Kingdom) and Heidi Engerman (Candyman) in undisclosed roles.

What Season 2 Could Hold

Season one ended on several cliffhangers:

  • Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) finally found love again with Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly), but Quinn may have to choose between staying with him or moving to New York to save her business.

  • Yancy’s (Jack Schumacher) relationship with Ellie (Marianly Tejada) was rocked by the arrival of a woman claiming to be his wife.

  • Reid Colin (Andrew Liner) had just embraced ranch life, setting up a major arc that may now be cut short.

With Davis and Reid written out, Ransom Canyon may shift its focus more heavily to Staten, Quinn, and the central ranching families as outside threats close in on Texas Hill Country.

The Future of Ransom Canyon

While fans may be disappointed by the loss of two central characters, creator April Blair has promised season two will dive even deeper into the community’s secrets and rivalries. “Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans,” she teased.

Season two now faces the challenge of reshaping its narrative without the Colins — and proving it can hold onto its Yellowstone-sized audience.
