“Sister Wives” star Maddie Brown and mom Janelle Brown opened up about Maddie’s current relationship with her father, Kody Brown, during the November 9 episode of their TLC series.
Maddie Brown Does Not Speak to Kody Brown
When asked if Maddie, 30, had informed her father that she and husband Caleb Brush were expecting their fourth child together, Janelle simply said, “No.”
“Maddie doesn’t really even tell him that she’s pregnant,” Janelle added. “He’ll find out.”
She continued, “They haven’t spoken for a long time. It’s probably been two or three years.”
One month prior, Maddie took to Instagram to express her feelings about their estrangement, according to E! News.
“Underrated life skill: Pausing to decide if it’s worth your energy,” she shared via her Instagram Story on October 11.
After one fan responded to Maddie’s story, writing, “I lack this skill,” the reality star responded.
“Your dad saying lies about you for the entire world to hear teaches it to you REAL QUICK,” she wrote, sharing a screenshot in her Instagram Story.
She later explained that she sees “a professional therapist on and off.”
“I have benefited a lot from this. I think anyone [who] comes from complex family dynamics could benefit from it,” Maddie continued.
Kody Brown Gets Emotional Over Relationship With His Children
Kody — who is currently starring in “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” — got emotional during a recent episode as he discussed his current relationship with some of his adult children.
“Do you feel that you’re taking your proper responsibility in the fallout of your kids?” former U.S. Marine Rudy Reyes asked the father of 18, as seen in a preview clip from the November 6 episode shared by People.
Kody responded, “I don’t want to admit I’m wrong sometimes. I don’t like being wrong.”
“There was a point in my life when I was concerned about everybody,” he continued. “I’m the discrepancy. I should have had a stronger relationship with my children.”
Brown — who separated from three of his four wives in recent years — claimed he’s now “willing to say that I’ve been wrong.”
“My failures were because I didn’t know about being a good dad and husband, and I thought I did. I really thought I did, and I misunderstood that,” Kody said through tears. “I did it wrong in so many ways, and I hated being blamed for it, and so it made me resistant to ownership.”
