Sister Wives Star Mykelti Brown Padron Responds to “Massive” Criticism of Her Kids’ iPad Usage
Sister Wives star Mykelti Padron responded to critics after she gave her and husband Tony Padron’s daughter Avalon, 4, and twin sons Archer and Ace, 3, iPads to use during a long road trip.
Mykelti Brown Padron does not appreciate mom criticism culture.
The second child of Sister Wives stars Kody Brown and Christine Brown had a message for those who “judged” how she raised her children after she gave her and husband Tony Padron’s daughter Avalon, 4, and twin sons Archer and Ace, 3, iPads during a long road trip.
“I got some serious hate comments recently,” Mykelti shared in a video posted to Instagram Jan. 8. “I actually got hate DMs. Massive amounts of them.”
“So here’s the story,” the 29-year-old continued. “We were in a drive on the way to my sister’s house. I had my Kindle, I had my phone, I was scrolling. Tony had his podcast, he was listening.”
As the reality star explained, she and Tony—who tied the knot in 2016—were “entertained.”
“I gave my kids iPads so that they could be entertained as well,” she added. “They could enjoy the drive. It’s four hours. They’re fine.”
Since experiencing motherhood, Mykelti has been candid with her fans about how her life has changed—and how much pressure she puts on herself to be the “best mom”—and the guilt she feels if she experiences a difficult moment.
“I get really upset at myself when it happens,” she wrote on Instagram in August. “Sometimes I do yell, sometimes I do breakdown & need a minute, sometimes I just turn on the TV and I leave the room. It’s completely normal.”
But the TLC star often reminds herself “this is my first time being a mom.”
“I don’t have any previous life experience of being a mom, there isn’t a perfect guide, and I’m human,” she continued. “So what I’ve been focusing on lately, is forgiving myself when I’m not the ‘best mom’ and realizing that as long as my kids are happy, healthy, and I help them create new memories and learn. I’m doing a great job. And I am the best mom for them.”
