Taylor Sheridan’s New Yellowstone Spin-Off ‘Rio Paloma’ Gets Major Filming Update in Texas
The Yellowstone saga may have ended, but creator Taylor Sheridan isn’t done expanding the Dutton universe just yet. His latest spin-off, titled Rio Paloma, is now officially in production — and the newest updates from the Texas set have fans buzzing with excitement.
‘Rio Paloma’ Begins Filming — And You Could Be in It
According to new casting calls, Rio Paloma is currently filming in Ferris, Texas, and production is actively seeking extras to appear in upcoming scenes. Paramount’s casting team has put out calls for “ranch day workers,” “wranglers,” “Zane’s assistant,” and even “flight attendants and airport bartenders.”
The work dates range between November 10 and November 17, with extras being paid by the day — making this not only a golden opportunity for Yellowstone fans, but a way to literally step onto Taylor Sheridan’s next big set.
The series reportedly continues the story of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) as they build a new life away from Montana, following the emotional conclusion of Yellowstone’s final season.
Sheridan’s Universe Expands Beyond the Ranch
While Rio Paloma moves full steam ahead, Sheridan is keeping busy across multiple projects. He’s simultaneously filming Season 3 of Lioness, his tense CIA thriller starring Zoe Saldaña.
After months of uncertainty surrounding the show’s renewal, Paramount officially confirmed its return. Saldaña recently celebrated by sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the set, confirming that production is back in motion — and teasing high-stakes new missions.
Sheridan is also juggling several other major projects, including:
-
A new Sicario-style action film titled F.A.S.T.
-
A Call of Duty movie in collaboration with director Peter Berg
-
Multiple remaining series under his Paramount deal, which runs until 2028, after which he is expected to part ways with the studio.
What’s Next for Sheridan’s Empire
The next big release from Sheridan’s stable will be Landman Season 2, premiering November 16 on Paramount+. Billed as Yellowstone’s spiritual successor, the oilfield drama was Paramount’s biggest new series debut when it launched in 2024.
Season 2 will see the return of Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, while adding Hollywood icons Sam Elliott and Andy Garcia (the latter in an expanded role). However, Jon Hamm is reportedly not returning as Monty Miller.
A New Frontier for the Dutton Legacy
With Rio Paloma now rolling cameras and Landman ready to premiere, Sheridan’s creative empire continues to dominate the small screen. Fans can expect Rio Paloma to carry the same grit, romance, and emotional intensity that made Yellowstone a cultural phenomenon — but with a fresh Texas twist.
As one casting insider teased, “The Dutton name may be gone from Montana, but its spirit rides on.”
