Caleb Miligan’s (William Ash) deceitful play began: he drove John into the woods, tricking him into thinking he was helping him escape. But when the van door opened, Caleb had a gun pointed straight at him. He declared he wasn’t intending to pull the trigger—but his brother, Cain, was.

The Deadly Counter-Move

Just as Cain’s fury swelled, John, the medic, suddenly gained the upper hand. He revealed he had prepared a scheduled email to send to the police, detailing the full truth about the murder of Anthony Fox.

The rule was simple: If John went to prison, or got shot, that email would be sent!

Caleb couldn’t risk Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly)—Anthony’s killer—going to jail. He swiftly acted: he knocked Cain out, shoved him in the boot of his car, and drove John to safety in Rotterdam.

In the aftermath, Caleb was confident John would stick to their plan and stay away from the village. But that did nothing to quell Cain’s escalating rage. Adamant that the murderer must pay, Cain dismissed everything Caleb said and vowed to track John down himself.

He packed a bag, disappeared to France—and cut off all contact.

Now, Cain has returned, and the tension at Butlers is suffocating. Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) demands answers from her husband about his trip to France and whether he found John. But Cain only responds with icy silence, reaching for a beer and completely blocking out Moira’s desperate concerns.

Cain is back after being arrested, yet he refuses to talk about anything—neither John nor his encounter with the police. Is he perhaps hiding a darker truth?

If he failed to find John, could that failure be sending Cain down a path of self-destruction?

As Cain spirals, even the anniversary of his father, Zak Dingle’s death, seems insignificant. Sam and Belle Dingle are disappointed when Cain fails to show up at Wishing Well to commemorate Zak’s life.
