Update News: Kody and Robyn Will Not Receive Any Salary From Janelle in Season 19

Janelle Brown is making a major financial shift, officially separating her income from estranged husband Kody Brown and his wife Robyn. She is now being paid independently for her role on Sister Wives.

The TLC star appears to be taking decisive steps toward full financial independence, signaling that her separation from Kody may soon become a formal divorce. As a mother of six, Janelle is reclaiming control over her finances, a move that will likely ensure she is no longer sharing her Sister Wives salary with Kody and Robyn in Season 19.

How Much Do the Browns Earn Per Episode of Sister Wives?

In the past, the Sister Wives family operated under a business entity called Kody Brown Family Entertainment, LLC, registered in Nevada. The company listed Kody and his four wives at the time — Janelle, Robyn, Meri, and Christine Brown — as members.

Through this structure, the family received payments from TLC for Sister Wives. It is estimated that the Browns earned between $25,000 and $40,000 per episode.

These earnings were deposited into a shared family bank account, which was used for housing and major purchases, including the down payment on the family’s Coyote Pass property. Kody Brown purchased the land for $820,000 in 2018.

During Sister Wives Season 17, Janelle revealed that when Christine needed to buy a home, the family used shared funds to help her. Additionally, profits from the sale of Janelle’s Las Vegas home were used toward a $222,500 down payment on Robyn’s $1.5 million home in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Meanwhile, Janelle was living in an RV and was told by Kody that the family did not have enough money to pay off the land, preventing her from building a home of her own.

How Does Janelle Brown Make Her Money?

Many Sister Wives fans believe Janelle experienced financial abuse during her 30-year marriage to Kody. As one of the primary earners, she contributed all of her income to the family account for the collective good. However, when she needed financial support, she was repeatedly told there were insufficient funds.

Janelle eventually came to realize that, as a non-legally married wife, she had no individual ownership over assets, with everything shared among the wives under the family structure.
