Y: Marshals First Look: Kayce Dutton Rides Into Battle on a New Frontier
Yellowstone’s Luke Grimes trades cattle for criminals in Taylor Sheridan’s gritty CBS spin-off
A New Beginning for a Broken Dutton
Kayce Dutton isn’t done yet.
After the seismic finale of Yellowstone, where the Dutton family fractured for good, Luke Grimes’ Kayce now returns to lead a powerful new spin-off: Y: Marshals.
This next chapter in the Yellowstone universe finds Kayce navigating a dangerous new path—not on the ranch, but in the crosshairs of Montana’s criminal underworld. And as Entertainment Weekly reveals in an exclusive first look, he’s doing it with a badge.
From Cowboy to Marshal: The Official Premise
According to the show’s logline, Y: Marshals follows Kayce as he joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his cowboy grit and Navy SEAL instincts to serve as the last line of defense in a region overrun with violence.
“I’m changing paths, trying to find a new beginning,” Kayce says in the first footage, shown galloping after suspects on horseback.
Still haunted by the trauma of losing both his father John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and brother Jamie (Wes Bentley), Kayce is seeking purpose beyond blood and legacy. He’s kept the East Camp of the Yellowstone for his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and son Tate (Brecken Merrill)—but peace won’t come easy.
