Yellowstone Spin-Off Y: Marshals Drops First Trailer — Kayce Dutton Rides Into a New Frontier
CBS and Taylor Sheridan unveil a thrilling next chapter in the Dutton saga — and it’s more dangerous than ever
A New Code, A New Battlefield
The Yellowstone universe is far from over. In fact, it’s just getting started. Fans were given their first taste of Y: Marshals, the highly anticipated spin-off starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, in a new trailer that promises action, reckoning, and a frontier unlike any we’ve seen before.
Premiering March 1, 2026 on CBS, the series picks up one year after Yellowstone’s dramatic conclusion and launches the Dutton legacy in a radical new direction. Gone are the open plains of Montana. In their place? A badge, a mission — and a new kind of war.
From Cowboy to U.S. Marshal
In Y: Marshals, Kayce trades his ranching roots for a silver star. Drawing on his past as both a rancher and a former Navy SEAL, he joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit tasked with hunting the most dangerous criminals across state lines. But Kayce’s quiet moral compass is about to collide with federal law — and not everyone in the agency plays by the same rules.
“How do you stay wild,” the trailer asks, “when you’ve been handed the rulebook?”
That question will define the show’s emotional and ethical core, as Kayce navigates between justice and survival, between his past and the job that could consume him.
Familiar Faces and New Guns
While Y: Marshals opens a bold new chapter, it doesn’t forget where it came from. Alongside Grimes, returning cast members Brecken Merrill (Tate Dutton), Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), and Mo Brings Plenty (Mo) all reprise their roles.
The series also welcomes fresh talent:
-
Logan Marshall-Green
-
Arielle Kebbel
-
Ash Santos
-
Tatanka Means
-
Brett Cullen
This mix of legacy characters and new allies (or enemies) sets the stage for a complex, character-driven lawman saga.
Sheridan’s Signature All Over It
Executive producer Taylor Sheridan reunites with Spencer Hudnut (SEAL Team) as showrunner, promising high-stakes storytelling with military precision. Greg Yaitanes, known for his work on House and Banshee, directs the premiere episode, which aims to introduce this next frontier with cinematic flair.
Sheridan’s fingerprints are everywhere — from the dusty visuals to the sharp one-liners to the burden of honor that Kayce can never fully escape.
A Legacy Reinvented
As the Yellowstone universe continues to expand, Y: Marshals is poised to become its boldest spin-off yet. Set apart from the politics of ranchland power, this is a story about law, loyalty, and identity. And if the trailer is anything to go by, Kayce’s greatest battles still lie ahead.
Will Kayce Dutton rise to the badge — or be crushed under the weight of justice? And what ghosts from Yellowstone might follow him into the Marshals’ crosshairs?
