Anthony Lund is a senior news writer and editor at MovieWeb from a small village in the U.K. with an avid love of all genres of TV and film. A child of the 80s, he is the owner of almost 2000 books, more toys than his children, three Warner Bros. Store Gremlins and a production used Howard The Duck movie script. He has built up a deep knowledge of movie trivia, iconic quotes, and will stand by his belief that Aliens beats The Empire Strikes Back and Terminator 2 as the greatest sequel of all time.

Yellowstone is going to deliver the best finale in TV history according to one of the show’s stars. Although there is still a while to wait for the new episodes of the series to arrive on Paramount+, that hasn’t stopped actor Ian Bohen going out on a limb to declare that fans will be getting something worth waiting for when the series does finally come to its conclusion.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Bohen did not sit on the ranch fence when asked about how the series ending is going to be received by those who have been eagerly awaiting the second part of Season 5. Despite several delays, and a whole load of controversy over Kevin Costner’s alternating in-or-out stance on returning to the series, Yellowstone’s final episodes are going to be a big draw when they finally debut, but a little extra hype from Bohen is not going to do any harm. He said:

“The fans are going to get the [best] conclusion that could possibly be written. Everything will land in a way that is perfectly set. A lot of shows just kind of finish… and they don’t satisfy you. This will be completed in a way that it will make sense. I don’t know that any show has finished this strongly ever. We’re expecting to have the best series finale in history. Overconfident maybe, but I think that’s what it’s going to be. We thank everyone for their patience… It’ll be worth the wait, I promise.”

Yellowstone has had a fraught time heading into what will be its final season. Originally, there was a plan for at least one more season to be made before the curtain closed on the flagship series of the Yellowstone franchise. However, Kevin Costner’s reported inability to commit to his filming schedule caused creator Taylor Sheridan to effectively shut down the series, with other avenues being sought for the story to go down instead.

While there have been conflicting reports of exactly how much Costner’s busy schedule was to blame for the show being brought to a more abrupt ending than planned, the actor himself has suggested that he would be more than willing to return if it were possible. He said in a recent interview promoting his new movie, Horizon: An American Saga:

“I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to … I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”

How exactly Yellowstone will end is still something we just don’t know. However, it is clear that the finale of the series is certainly not the end of the franchise, which will continue on through several spin-offs. A new show is rumored to be in development to take over the reins in Yellowstone’s wake, with Matthew McConaughey and Michelle Pfeiffer reportedly favorites to lead. Other spin-offs include 6666, which had delays due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, as well as 1944 and 2024, which are both said to be in active development to continue expanding the Yellowstone universe.

Yellowstone’s previous seasons are available to stream on Paramount+. Season 5 Part 2 is expected to air later this year.
